History:
These songs were written and recorded in early 2000 at the original Martini Room in Martinez, California. Later that year, tragic events struck and the whole project was forgotten and memories of their existence soon faded. Years later it was thought that these songs would never be heard again because the original recordings were done on an analog 16 track deck. The deck no longer works and no known digital copies existed (except for Heavenly Hearse and The 80's) until September of 2007 when three compact discs were discovered with mixes of the complete sessions. The best mixes were selected, remastered and this is the result - Dead Weeds And Tin Cans.
Commentary:
This is a guitar-driven, psychedelic journey where nothing makes much sense. Recorded with various custom electric guitars, a Fender Musicmaster bass, an old mismatched drum kit, carefully selected junk found at construction sites, and a small amount of drum sounds from an Alesis drum machine. Unfortunately, the tracks were already mixed when they were found and not mixed well. So the only thing that could be done was a little remastering. The recordings are sloppy with lots of imperfections which make this album raw and dirty. Maybe that's a good thing? At least the sound matches the album title.
